Cookie Policy
Last updated: 31 May 2026
This page explains what cookies Galrivo uses, why we use them, and how you can control them. We keep it short because we genuinely use very few cookies.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser. They help websites remember things like keeping you logged in between visits. Cookies cannot run programs or carry viruses.
Cookies we use
Strictly necessary cookies
These cookies are essential for the service to function. You cannot opt out of them while using Galrivo.
- galrivo_rt: your login session cookie. Keeps you signed in between visits. Stored as a signed, HTTP-only cookie that cannot be read by JavaScript. It stays valid while you keep using Galrivo, and you can end it any time by logging out.
- galrivo_oauth_state: a short-lived security token used when you connect your Google Drive. Prevents cross-site request forgery attacks. Expires after 10 minutes.
- galrivo_gl_state: a short-lived security token used when you sign in with Google. Same purpose as above. Expires after 10 minutes.
Preference cookies
These cookies remember your preferences to improve your experience.
- galrivo-theme: stores your preferred colour theme (light or dark mode). Expires after 1 year. Never sent to our servers beyond the initial page load.
- galrivo-cookie-consent: records whether you have accepted or declined non-essential cookies. Expires after 1 year.
Analytics and advertising
We do not use third-party analytics cookies. We do not use advertising cookies. We do not track you across other websites.
We collect basic, aggregate usage statistics (such as how many galleries were created in a given week) using our own server logs. This does not involve placing any cookies in your browser.
Third-party cookies
When you connect Google Drive or sign in with Google, Google may set their own cookies in your browser. These are governed by the Cookie Policy from Google.
When people you share with visit a gallery you have shared, they are served content directly from Google Drive. Google may set cookies related to that content delivery.
How to control cookies
You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. The links below go to the cookie settings for the most common browsers:
Please note that disabling the strictly necessary cookies (specifically galrivo_rt) will log you out of Galrivo and you will not be able to stay logged in.
Changes to this policy
If we ever start using additional cookies, we will update this page and let you know. We have no plans to do so.
